Welcome to Microsoft’s Copilot Release Notes. Here we’ll provide regular updates on what’s happening with Copilot, from new features to firmware updates and more.
GPT-5 now live in Microsoft Copilot
We’re excited to announce that GPT-5 is now available in Microsoft Copilot across all markets and platforms—including web, Windows, Mac, and mobile.
GPT‑5 is the most advanced AI system to date. It’s a unified system built to understand when to respond quickly and when to think more deeply, delivering expert-level results with less effort from you. At its core is a fast, high‑throughput model for everyday questions, a deeper reasoning model (GPT-5 thinking) for complex tasks, and a real‑time router that intelligently selects the right approach based on your intent and the conversation’s complexity.
With the new Smart Mode, Copilot automatically adapts to your task and routes you to the most capable model, removing the need to switch or guess. Whether you’re solving complex problems, writing creatively, or turning ideas into visuals, Smart Mode delivers the smartest, most intuitive experience yet.
This update is not only about faster or better responses. It’s designed to remove friction so you can focus on your ideas instead of the interface. That means more creativity and less configuration.
How to try it:
- Open Copilot on any device
- Select Smart Mode in the Composer
- Start exploring with GPT-5—free to try right now
We can’t wait to see how this helps unlock your creative flow. Try it today and experience the future of AI-powered productivity.
Copilot Mode now available in Microsoft Edge
Copilot Mode is a new experimental mode that enhances the way we browse. Copilot Mode adds intelligent AI capabilities that transform Edge into a proactive, streamlined assistant. By combining chat, search, and web navigation into a single input box, Copilot Mode helps users make sense of open tabs, anticipate tasks, and stay in flow all while meeting Microsoft’s high standards of security, privacy, and performance. You can speak naturally to Copilot, use it on any webpage, and soon organize your browsing into topic-based journeys. Advanced tasks like bookings and errands are coming soon, with privacy always protected.
Copilot Mode is free for a limited time and available now on Edge for Windows and Mac. Opt in anytime through your browser settings.
